The Journey to Orquidea

It is said ......"you don’t choose your destiny… it chooses you."

That is precisely what happened when we found Nicaragua and it found us.

After “working” in the Canadian and international telecommunications industry as a senior executive, building high performance teams, I, Robert, started a journey of awareness and discovery that led to a recognition of the power of the universe and how each of us can make a difference in the world. For me, it was just a matter of where in this world could I make the biggest difference; as I believe that success is measured in making a difference in people’s lives. I am fascinated with the power of creativity and enjoy exploring new ways to interpret the power of attitude, the power of attraction and the theme…JUST BELIEVE…

After looking in several areas in the world, a series of circumstances created the opportunity for Nicaragua, San Juan and Yankee beach, to find me. In January 2007, with a shared vision and a dream of creating, a unique and intimate retreat to enjoy the world’s developments, and a focal point for making a difference in the lives of the Nicaraguan people, construction of our magnificent home began.

My partner, Joanne joined me in a trip to Nicaragua and fell in love with everything she saw, particularly the people. She decided to resign from her work in Canada and join me in my journey and create a life together. She plans on making use of her extensive horticulture experience and training as a health care professional to help make a difference in the lives of the Nicas, a people that she feels are worthy of all of our attention.

She is the woman that takes my JUST BELIEVE and makes it JUST HAPPEN.

In September 2008, we moved to Nicaragua to complete the retreat and implement our commitment to make a difference in the lives of those we come in contact with.
